About Us

Richard K. Mittelstaedt was born in Vernon, BC and was immediately introduced to the mission field. During his early childhood, his parents, Rainer and Elizabeth Mitteltaedt served in Mwanza, Tanzania. Later, God relocated Richard’s family to Sri Lanka. Since returning to Canada as an adolescent, Richard has long desired to return to the mission field to serve in a practical and loving way to those who need it the most.
Carli Mittelstaedt was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa to Dirk and Betty Breed, a Boer household. Her family immigrated to Toronto, ON in 1994. Moving to Canada, wasn’t a difficult transition in her early childhood, Carli was simply flexible and desired friendship. Not until adolescence did she begin to understand and value what her childlike nature reflected, to be compassionate towards those in need and respond to God’s inclinations.
Richard and Carli met at Crosslands Church in Newmarket, ON and were married on August 02, 2008. During their relationship, Richard worked as a foreman for Perform Construction, and Carli attended Tyndale College and thereafter working for Sunwing Airlines as a flight attendant. They both enjoy snowboarding, soccer, and cooking. Richard enjoys music and technology while Carli’s hobbies include photography, beading and reading historical novels.
On October 20, 2009, they welcomed their new daughter Elise Mittelstaedt to the family in Newmarket, ON. At this young age, her hobbies include eating, sleeping, and messing diapers.
