About Our Ministry
Our Vision
Our primary role in our ministry at Starehe Children’s Home is to share Christ’s love with the children. We do this by joining Starehe in the provision of an encouraging environment of hope, faith and purpose. The vision we share is that God will change a nation by the contagious love and salvation of Christ, as these children become adopted as God’s own and grow into a new generation of fishermen, farmers, pastors, teachers, doctors, nurses, and civil servants that love Jesus!
As Directors of the Home some of our duties will include:
- Office duties: staff records, staff time sheets, staff allowance calculations, and general office administration
- Supervision and relationship building with the local staff
- Organizing children routines; taking them swimming, to church, to outings, bus schedules, school functions etc, Parent teacher meetings – for 65 kids.
- Bonding with the kids individually and collectively
- Attending to sick kids
- Ensuring general maintenance of the Home; electrical, plumbing, doors falling off the hinges, broken windows, etc.
- Project development
- Continual fund raising for Home
- Maintaining relationship with current partners
